Week in Review

Week In Review - 19th of March

Uh-oh. Sorry to say that this time I didn't do a weekly wrap up in English. BUT if you still wanna go read it (I believe there is a translation app somewhere that might make it easier for you ;D ) click here.

But what I didn't put in there was the IBM Client Center launch event I went to this week at Tøyen, so I thought I should add a note to it here instead. If you'd like to have a look for yourself what it was all about I embedded a video below for ya! As I was one of the very few not all covered up in clean tight suits I, of course, had to be put in the movie clip from the happening. Kinda fun though.
I've got "head of x", within their title, friends at IBM which turned out not to be a dumb thing to have when things like this happen. I kinda feel a little honored that they chose to add me to the evening. So, to finally inform you in written form what IBM Client Center is all about here you go; Its a showroom open to the public. Kind of like a museum!
And oh yes, they are doing quite interesting work you can go have a look at any day you want, except you'll have to book in advance.

Have a niiiice week yall!

And what I am still thinking about it whether I should continue writing in English or not. I do not feel comfortable or able to express myself through writing in Norwegian. I feel all pretentious, like I'm writing as I was 13 years old or something. Hmm what to do? Help me? Please :D You know I'll hug you over and over and over and over and.. yeah..

Week In Review - 3rd of March

The moon gets its own cellphone network, 700 groceries goes plastic free, India to launch a school teaching happiness and skills of the future and Bill Gates to fund a completely new smart city. Life is exciting!!

To begin:

Book I am reading this week "Alibaba: The House Jack Ma Built" by Duncan Clark. Super interesting. What I find the most compelling is that everyone changes positions all the time. I think not 5 years go by without you having changed your title. I think that is super healthy for both workers and the company. And they also basically take on any industry.

#FUTURESOCIETY

News of the week: Ekoplaza in Amsterdam goes plastic free!!! This shop just proved that 700 groceries can be sold plastic free. Thank god someone is taking responsibility and paving the way.

This week I discovered a highly relevant new 10 episode podcast series by World Economic Forum about the future. «Shaping The Fourth Industrial Revolution» is definitely worth checking out to easily get an overview of how our lives and society are changing.

FullSizeRender.jpg

Say whatever you want about Bill Gates but do so on solid ground. Read about what he does with all his money instead of criticising him for having so much. Luckily he and Mark Zuckerberg and Elin Musk etc happen to have cash and thank god for that, more clever , conscious and caring minds who wants the best for society you have to look way longer for. Thanks you guys for everything you give. Other rich people has way too much to learn from you.

Now Bill Gates is funding an entire new city to be built in Arizona in the coming years. Ita supposed to be the smart city of the future and housing 180.000 people. Have a look in the video below.

#SPACE

So, listen, by 2020 the moon will get its on mobile network...!

#EDUCATION

Breaking: India is building a school focused on teaching happiness. Opens in 2020 and will be teaching the skills of the future. Seems like I need to move to india when I get kids and theyre ready for school.

Google want to teach more people AI and Machine learning and launches FREE courses! Go check it out :)

#HEALTH&MEDICINE

Stem-Cell stroke treatment repairs damaged brain tissue !! Good news for the 15 million people who is suffer from strokes every year.

LSD Treatment can actually "harmonize the brain"

Tim Ferriss is extremely positive in treating mental health illnesses with psychedelics. I only startet thinking and reading about this a few years ago and it makes sense to me as well. In his recent newsletter from this week he posted lots or resources to read more about this topic and I thought it was a good time to add them here. For sure ill write another post solely on this but not in the nearest future so, dig in. He also has a great episode on hus podcast with a guy who works and researches on psychedelics treatment. Too me natural psychedelics used only 1-3 times and then makes more sense to me than swallowing crappy cocktail medicine cyntetic from the lab with serious side effects everyday for years. Or what? I also cant wait until treating mental issues with lights become the norm. It says it will be standard in about 15-20 years. Crossing my fingers. Thats even better. Treating it in natural ways and not dangerous side effects medicine the pharmaceutical insustry cash in for making you take it everyday.

AI should is monitoring you right now and here is how it uses its data.

There will certainly be no limits to what AI can accomplish in the future but that is something you already knew I hope..!

#EARTH&ENERGY

The worlds largest reforestation project has gotten started. This was announced in 2017 but I didnt remember reading it until today. They are aiming to restor 23 million trees by 2023! Incredible news. I just hope people stop tearing it down if not it wont be too much of a help, or what?

 #BLOCKCHAIN

Blockchain is helping democratize access to credit. Thank god!

#HARDSCIENCE

A new species of the toughest animal on earth was recently discovered in Japan. These living beings are fucking hard core!!! Boil them, freeze them, drown them put them into space and they still wont die. Great for longevity research!

Does biological anatomy really capture the entirety of who we are?

Are ‘You’ Just Inside Your Skin or Is Your Smartphone Part of You?

FUTURISMS WRAP UP OF THE WEEK

Wish you a wonderful week and I hope this might spark som interesting conversations!

Just, by the way...

Remember, when you find yourself in struggle, think: "what would a person I admire do" To me I could think. "What would Elon Musk do or what would Tim Ferriss to etc." To try to tap into their mindset to help solve and overcome my own challenges :)

Love,

Yrja

Week In Review - 25th of February

A bit late out on my weekly wrap up but thats fine. Right..!
As I am human and easily get addicted to good entertainment, I ended up watching "Halt & Catch Fire" the whole day yesterday, completely immersed in a binge. I can not believe I've never heard of this Tv series before. Right down my alley from the entrepreneurial computer industry in the 80s. Its sort of a niche show, but its really good. Added the trailer below. I also learned that the first ever Computer Programmer was a GIRL! Yeah, and her name was Ada Lovelace. What a beautiful name and story.

28383872_10160037495940301_1553777160_n.jpg

Besides this I signed up on Rize this Friday(which was their launch date of their public version of the app). Ive been waiting for a few months and then finally it's ready to be used! Its a blockchain based live streaming interaction platform by YouNow and made on PROPS Tokens based on Etherum. I'm starting to wonder wether I should go start using it or not. I missed my shot on youtube, blogging, Instagram, snapchat and musically. All of these platforms I discovered right when they were launched or early on, when nothing was going on and no one was there. What would have happened if I simply continued doing it from day 1 I was there? I just felt I had nothing to share.. I didn't know what I should write or say. Who'd listen to me? And now.. I am SURE this platform is gonna hit it aswell. Can I afford to miss it? Do I want to miss it? Hmm follow me and lets chat when I go live. My first Rize conversation was actually with Casey Neistat. Join me!

MIT launched their yearly "Breakthrough Technologies of the Year" article.
3D Metal Printing, Artificial Embryos, Sensing City, Neural Networks and more. Check it out for yourself here.
Peter Diamandis says 2018 will off this:

  • "Quantum Supremacy Achieved: The first demonstration of a quantum computation that can’t be simulated with classical supercomputers is announced.
  • Emotion AI will become embedded into conversational interfaces. It will be socially acceptable to scream angrily at Alexa. She might respond with something like, “Please don’t yell at me, that hurt my feelings.”

Here is the rest of his predictions for the years to come.

Week in Review - 18th of February

2018, the year Norway got some serious big hugs from Mr Snow. This winter has been beyond words incredibly white. Us Norwegians finally got what we've been craving and longing for for years. In weekdays people have wrapped up their stuff at work at 4pm to go end the day in white powder. If I shall put on the table one negative fact about this weather its that people with a car have been struggling each morning to get their cars out on the roads, luckily that ain't me. Some people even reported on the news cause spending 3 hours digging out their car. Haha. The one thing that's got me annoyed a bit is the constant change between rain and snow. One day we are snowing down, the next day rain hits and we are forced to walk around in slush, getting all wet and uncomfortable. Commuting is impossible.. I walk regardless of course.. Bc I'm the walker girl. The white walker.....................
To me its still a mystery how those Foodora cyclists dare to conquer the roads to deliver food. It's all about money.. I know, but I'm more like.. health first..

The flu and cold has been hitting hard this year as well and lots of people has been going dooown, this week it caught the cold but thats about it. I was well enough to go off to work everyday. I at my fair share of the flue in 2015 when I was down for 12 days. 9 days in constant fever and overall intense pain, I couldn't get out of my bed and nights was filled with sweat and hallusinations. Life because all about survival. I've had two such major instances in my life, the last time was about 18 years ago. Next time will hit me in a decade or two I guess. You know, afterwards its not too bad, those events are one of the few things I remember quite well, next to burning man and a some heavy years with my ex. Thats what makes life worth living, when you actually feel alive. You actually feel something. I'm not sure if thats something you would agree on, but thats just me. Alright, as usual I could go on writing but perhaps its time to check out a few things that happened this past week? Yeah..

#FUTURESOCIETY

But first, lets get happy! You see the video below? Thats my kind of living. I guess if you give it 250-300 years all buildings will be covered in green grass or simply be nature inspired and beneficial looking and constructed. Or do I have to much faith in humans? Perhaps its way too dreamy to think so good of people?
Very often (when I think optimistically) it just feels like I was born too too early, and I have no idea why something chose to get me to earth at this time when I so clearly would thrive later on.  Wouldn't you like to live with a fresh piece of grass above your head?

#HEALTH&MEDICINE

"We read this 800 page report on the state of longevity research so you don't have to." - Singularity Hub.
"It is the takeaway of The Science of Longevity, the behemoth first volume of a four-part series offering a bird’s-eye view of the longevity industry in 2017. The report, a joint production of the Biogerontology Research FoundationDeep Knowledge Life Science, Aging Analytics Agency, and Longevity.International, synthesizes the growing array of academic and industry ventures related to aging, healthspan, and everything in between."

#ROBOTICS

Boston Dynamics Robots are as life like as can be and it might creep you out. If you're one of the pessimistic viewers you'll most likely start thinking about the recent Black Mirror episode with the robots dogs running around killing people where escaping from them is literally impossible. Yikes.

This post I did never finish, but I figured out better to post at least some news of the week than nothing! :D Or what you say...!?

Week In Review - 11th of February

elon-musk-companies_grande.png

Falcon Heavy, Starman and Tesla are basically the sum-up of the week.
As usually Elon Musk triumphs it all. Really, If there is one man that I admire and look up to, that is Elon. Elon Musk. Involved in 18 companies in 8 various industries (what?) and CEO in both Tesla and Space X (WHAT!). Inside of him inhibits a grand vision of changing the world. How amazing is this man? Anyways..

I'm at my family's cabin at Haukelifjell. Put on my skis for the first time in a year and taken them for a cross country stroll. 2,5 hours yesterday and 3 today. The technique is not all good but damn it was a sweaty exercise. Recommendable.

Lets dig into the happenings of the week

#SPACE

Falcon Heavy
Musks initial plan was to launch the Falcon Heavy Rocket in 2013 but that was apparently way too ambitious but 6th of February, finally it was ready. And the very first launch of the world’s most technologically advanced rocket took place.

Watch Starmans first hours in space below.

Awesome starman making and bringing our history to outerspace. Lets hope someone will find the car, starman and data hidden in the backs of the car at somepoint in time.. :)

Week In Review - 4th of February

Them weeks passes by quickly these days without sunshine and constant mix of snow and heavy rain everyday. Today its sunny for the first time in weeks. Nothing feels better to me than having the sun licking my face. It makes me feel more alive than ever.

Lets go through this week: Altered Carbon, Human Ubers, facebook is banning cryptocurrency ads etc..

Starting with The One and Only Altered Carbon, Netflix most expensive TV series this far launched 2nd of February, I've been waiting for months. It's a sci-fi ten episode 1 hour crime series. Too me it isn't even sci-fi, because this is technology soon to exist in our worlds too. Not different from other futuristic movies, it's got a negative view point on where we are heading. Altered carbon is illustrating worst case scenario where the richest are immortal and in control of basically everything. And they are bored. The plot is no other than solving a murder. Finding the murderer who killed the person in his previous sleeve as they call it. Sleeve meaning body. Consciousness is backed up and secure but the body can die usual deaths so if one die a new clone is made or another persons sleeve is to be used. I watched all the episodes in two days. Traditionally I've never been into sci-fi. But this sci-fi is not really Fiction, this is just science. Which I love. Wanna se the trailer? Click here

Coco was also released this week, as I'm a Disney lover, that was kinda exciting news. So had to share it and add it, incase you were to...

#GENERAL

World Economic Forums Davos event also wrapped up this week. You can read about the key takeways here

#GENERALSCIENCE

As, Usual, Futurisms Weekly Video Wrap up of This Week in Science is added:

#HARDSCIENCE

COSMOS.. This is fascinating.. The video below shows us the most detailed simulation of the cosmos up to ever made.

#HEALTH&MEDICINE

Two Women will undergo three parent baby therapy in the UK. Regulators in the United Kingdom have this week given doctors green light to perform mitochondrial donation therapy. Hmm this is super exciting and weird. What do you think? Read more about it here

How it Works:

I'm waiting and waiting for the day that when we no longer have to do surgery, not even touch the body when something happens if something happens you simply just swallow a small pill or drink a liquid and then it makes the wound go away just by sending in nano boots or intelligent stem cells or something. Or just radiating particles from outside of the body. And now it seems like we are on our way to get there.
Researchers just invented a tiny "minimalist robot" that looks like a caterpillar and can perform a wide range of movements, including jumping, crawling through tunnels, and climbing out of a pool. It is designed to deliver drugs to specific targets in the human body.

This robot should one day allow it to patrol the human body from the inside, according to researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart, Germany, who describe their work in a Nature paper. Below you can watch a short video on the concept.

Canada is trialing blockchain!
Canada announced that it will trial the use of blockchain to add transparency to government funding and research grants. Other countries are onto it as well.
This means that every time the NRC creates or alters a grant, that information is added to the blockchain, which will be connected to a publicly accessible online database. TRANSPARANCY! YES. YES!

#EARTH&ENERGY

Check out this awesome renewable energy ship.

HAVE A NICE WEEK PEEPS :D I SURE WILL!

I just managed to put down into words my definition of a good life this week. It is basically ;

"My definition of a good life is a life without any physical pain"

I am so grateful. SO grateful for having a well functioning body without feeling physical pain on a constant basis. Only if I'm eating stuff my body can't handle I'm filled with pain but that is usually my own choice. So THANK YOU! I am so grateful everyday for waking ut painless. And this is a life I wish for everyone. Hopefully we will get there someday.  Bliss, happiness and contentment definitely comes from within anyways but life without bodily pain sure is a golden ticket!!

Checked out a new Cocktail bar in Oslo this week. "Bar ISM". They have a photobooth. We took a lot of fliiiicks. Caroline Sandermoen is on my right. I'll tell you more about what shes up to these days someother time.

Week In Review - January 28th

So, whats been up this week?
Well, I can't avoid mentioning Davos. Sadly I wasn't there in person, and I'm actually starting to wonder if that is most likely never going to happen, so it's good news that World Economic Forum is generous with sharing their content. It is possible to stay up to date on whats been going on. Click here to view videos from talks or read latest news.

But first, Futurism's weekly video, this week in #SCIENCE

Singularity Hub Serves this #WrapUp of the week.
Take a look

#FOOD
I discovered this ladys website yesterday, GolubkaKitchen. Seriously, if everyone became vegan we would cut our carbon footprint by half (and hospital bills in half as well, I'm pretty sure). Sooo. whats stopping us? Accessibility and knowledge and understanding... How to prepare this fucking green grass? Well.. I found an amazing website for ya. Check it out. And if you don't know Deliciously Ella by now.. Time has come to check her out.
Foooooood yumyum.

#HEALTH & MEDICINE
If you had a human head transplant, would you still be you? I'm the person who things consciousness and intelligence might not only take place in the head, so too me this sounds bizzare if this is to be true. But who knows.. I'd love to figure out sometime soon. This Italian doctor have been bragging about this operation for years now.. What takes it so long?

If you missed this weeks biggest news, thats fine, cause here it is; The first monkey has been cloned. Now paving the way for humans too. The reason why this hasn't happened earlier is that ever since the sheep dolly was cloned in 1966 the technique has been tried on several animals but all have shown resistance until but now they've tweaked their method and finally a monkey could be cloned. Read more about the event here.

#OFFWORLD

Ok so this is fascinating, Chinese scientists just spent 200 days pretending to live on the moon. Just read it..

"A group of Chinese student volunteers spent 200 days in a “lunar lab” simulation in Beijing as part of an experiment to test the potential psychological effects humans may experience if they were to take up residence on the Moon. The simulation is part of a program that hopes to advance the concept of Moon colonization."

#HARDSCIENCE
This one I find rather stunning. Mosquitos can be trained not to bite specific humans. Wtf? Yes you heard me. Mosquitos!! And not only that; a new study shows that a method for training mosquitoes not to bite specific humans could be as effective as using insect repellents like DEET.

Are plants conscious? Is there any reason they shouldn't be? I believe they're inherited with intelligence we simply do not understand yet. So now researchers have mapped out how plants sense the world. Kinda cool!

#EARTH&ENERGY

Well. Interesting but not surprising news the facts has spoken 2017 was the second hottest year ever recorded.. Where are we heading people.. Still not a vegan??

Thats all for this week folks!

Hope this was food for thought and perhaps might spark a few conversations!

Wish you all a great week.

Week in Review - 21st of January 2018

I haven't been writing my usual week in review wrap up in months. But I guess its about time to start doing so again, at least to write a small piece. So, that's what I'm doing today by sharing Futurism "This Week In Science" Video. 2018 is certainly off to a jump start!

#BIOTECH

Good, good news. Y Combinator, one of the worlds leading accelerators are now starting their own Life Sciences Department, YC BIO, which will solely focus on curing aging. This means that they will accept, fund and develop longevity startups they believe in. YAS! I'm still positive that within 2050 we have a way to cure aging or at least live healthier and longer.

Week in Review - 13th of August

News and content I've come across for the past week that I find sharable  :))

Climate change and airflights

Climate change and airflights

This week I did something that felt really meaningful, I helped create a successful technology summer camp for 13-16 girls. There were more than 100 of them and I helped on a workshop on how to create a facebook bot. They were really excited all of them and had a great day empowering feelings of mastery. This might help create a movement. TENK is the organisation behind the initiative and I really hope it will just continue to grow. More females with tech & science knowledge is just what the worlds need. It's time to change the status quo.

This week I read somewhere this week that Norway has gotten 20 % more rainy. Wtf? Well, so people that doesn't believe in global warming could go kiss someone's ..... he he. Norway is going to continue getting more and more wet and even colder.. Believe it or not.
Click here if you'd like to read some more about possible outcomes..
Also interesting; hot weather and climate change affects airline flights more than you think.

Anyways, whats up this week?

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Elon Musk's nonprofit AI company, OpenAI,  has successfully created a Bot that has beaten some of the world's greatest esport, Dota 2 players. The game is much more complex than chess or Go, and the bot's ability to win is indicative of the increasing power of AI systems. READ MORE

ENHANCED HUMANS

Exosceletons

Amazon Alexa can now communicate with an exosceleton.

Bionik Laboratories has demonstrated a prototype of its Arke lower-body exoskeleton that can be controlled via Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa.
Its in prototype at the moment but it already has a huge potential, from assisting the elderly and disabled +++.

VIRTUALITY

Mind-controlled VR game finally a thing! All though it may be a while yet before we can harness telekinetic powers in real life, but now a brain-controlled virtual-reality game is aiming to let us use our mind to pick up and throw items with ease. Read more about the invention by the startup Neurable here

ROBOTICS & MACHINES

Robots can take all forms and shapes. I love these animal like creatures.

MEDICINE & HEALTH

#BIOTECH

A biotech company genetically is engineering pigs so that their organs might work in people.
There is a huge lack in organs and loads of people die every day while on the waiting list to get one.. Until we can 3D print our own tailor made organs getting organs from the pigs might be a good in between solution, all though I'm not pro using animals for any humanish things.

CRISPR, I LOVE IT. We are on our way to a periode of wellness, where illness certainly do not exists. CRISPR technology is a simple yet powerful tool for editing genomes. It allows researchers to easily alter DNA sequences and modify gene function. In the future you will basically be able to use it to tweak everything in your body. Watch the video below on super bakteria. Here you can also check out 11 things CRISPR has helped us do in 2017.

EARTH & ENERGY

The worlds largest floating solar power station is made in Japan. It was actually fully up and running in 2015.

Stretchable electronics.
As I always say the future is mind bending and also material bending (!) apparently.

Transparent Solar Panels
These solar panels are game changing. Please make no new windows without them!!!! That should soon become a rule.

FUTURE SOCIETY

China just used a quantum satellite to send data from space to earth.
"China just sent data to Earth from space using a quantum satellite. This successful use of quantum cryptography could make data unhackable, in a huge world first for cybersecurity and a major step toward realizing their global quantum network plans.
This technology could have huge implications in cybersecurity. Businesses would be safer online, and e-commerce would be free of problems caused by hacking and identity theft. The tech would also make it far more difficult for governments to spy on private communications — something that global leaders and agencies around the world have a vested interest in." Futurism
Quantum computing. Damn it, so beautifully amazing!

Scientists just hacked a computer using DNA. Wtf!?
"In what appears to be the first successful hack of a software program using DNA, researchers say malware they incorporated into a genetic molecule allowed them to take control of a computer used to analyze it... .. The researchers warn that hackers could one day use faked blood or spit samples to gain access to university computers, steal information from police forensics labs, or infect genome files shared by scientists.  " - MIT

#cryptocurrencies
Bitcoin has surpassed another milestone by reaching worth of more than $4,000. Many are still optimistic about the currency's future. I've invested in Etherum and I feel pretty good about it. The ROI has raised from 1500 to 9200. The highest amount it has reached so far was almost 12k. Not to bad right? :D

SINGULARITY HUBS PICK OF THE WEEK

Week In Review - 30th of July

This week I visited Madrid, and you know what, it actually went beyond my expectations. (Read my blogpost about it here) Thanks, Madrid for giving me such a pleasant surprise. I've never been too fond of Spanish language either.. but now.. I happen to like it a tiny tony bit more. You know whats rather weird? When I came home I chose to watch Netflix to relax a bit, and first Tv series I came about was a show called Cable Girls, about the Suffragettes in 1920s. But to my confusion the sync was out of order, but that was right before I realised that the original story was in Spanish and the location of the story was Madrid. Wtf? Spain was following me? Anyways, I ended up binging the whole season. So beautiful and capturing story and deep stories within the main story too. All about human relations and that everyone has their own struggles. Also, the main characters are girls. YES! You should definitely check it out.. And uh, a side note: did you know Netflix is carrying 20 billion dollars in depth? I really hope it will survive because the Original Tvseries they're making is getting better and better.

So what's been up in science and tech this week?

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The Musk-Zuck Clash
Elon Musk says Mark Zuckerberg’s understanding of the future of AI is ‘limited’
In a Facebook Live broadcast, Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO, offered a respons. He called Musk a “naysayer” and accused his doomsday fears of unnecessary negativity. Musk then retorted on Twitter: “I’ve talked to Mark about this. His understanding of the subject is limited.” Tech titans protecting their brands?

Google Has Started Adding Imagination to Its DeepMind AI. Researchers have started developing artificial intelligence with imagination, an AI that can reason through decisions and make plans for the future, without human instructions

Another way to put it, it can now imagine the consequences of actions before taking them, something we take for granted but which is much harder for robots to do.

Facebook kills AI that invented its own language because English was slow.
If I was an super intelligent AI trying to communicated certain serious topics I'd probably do the same. Human language are way too poetic, complicated and fragmented to do critical work with. Its limited. Digital Journal reported this.

HEALTH & MEDICINE

#Biotech

The first known attempt at creating genetically modified human embryos in the United States has been carried out by a team of researchers in Portland.

Scientists have converted cancer cells into immune cells. This could lead to a new type of treatment, called differentiation therapy.

FUTURE SOCIETY

The Biggest Facial Recognition System in the World Is Rolling Out in China
Uh-uh..  the government officials in China are taking the technology even further by installing a nationwide system of facial recognition infrastructure. I guess lots of people will say, but what about my freedom and privacy rights? Well, I'm sorry.. But I think, in a way this might be useful and great but also it will definitely be learning curve for every nation to watch and takes note from.

TRANSPORTATION

Elon Musk shares footage of The Boring Company’s first working car elevator. I really hope its not too many years until this network is up and running. Getting the traffic beneath the ground will upgrade the city of angels immensely.

SINGULARITY HUBS WEEKLY SUM UP

JASON SILVA & SINGULARITY EPISODE 2

Week in Review - 16th of July

The weather is good and it's summer. We all have time to breath and reboot. In one weird way I actually enjoy that all of Norway is doing it at the same time. Its like a big long country pause where no one expects anything for you for a month.
In other countries you don't see the same, people don't log of for a whole mont, the world goes on as usual.
Well, in tech and science things are happening at all times and this is whats been going on lately this week. My pick!

SPACE

NASA Just Announced They Can't Afford to Get Humans to Mars Off World
NASA's next steps will depend on its funding, but now more than ever, the future of Mars colonization rests in the hands of commercial space companies. What I think is that going to space should be a team work of the whole world. It doesn't make sense that China is doing that and Russia is doing that. We should have a fund where everyone spit in money used to accomplish a common goal. It costs way too much money to do it properly on our own.. Or is it better with competition?

ROBOTS & MACHINES

The Worlds First Fully Robot Kitchen: Yes please!
This is not a video that was published this week but it popped up again in my newsfeed and I figured out its too good not to be shared. You see, I really really dislike cooking, it's one of the worst things I can spend my time doing. I LOVE food but making it is not down my ally at all, I've always wished for the future getting a personal chef and apparently it doesn't seem so far away. Raw Cakes, Fresh juices and nutritious salads will bli served all day every day. YUM. My dream. Or just find me a man who can cook the food that I enjoy.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

AI system puts words in Obamas mouth....
Future of Fake news is promising.........uh-uh..
Researchers have developed a new tool, powered by artificial intelligence, that can create realistic-looking videos of speech from any audio clip..
Some people believe what they read and what they see. So.. How will things turn out now when one can actually manipulate video to this point? How the FUCK will things turn out now? This is fake news taken to a whole new leve. Watching someone with authority that you trust saying something lots of people automatically believe it.

Scientists Used CRISPR to Put a GIF Inside a Living Organism’s DNA
Emily Mullin |  MIT Technology Review
“They delivered the GIF into the living bacteria in the form of five frames: images of a galloping horse and rider, taken by English photographer Eadweard Muybridge…The researchers were then able to retrieve the data by sequencing the bacterial DNA. They reconstructed the movie with 90 percent accuracy by reading the pixel nucleotide code.”

"The promise of using DNA as storage means you could conceivably save every photo you’ve ever taken, your entire iTunes library, and all 839 episodes of Doctor Who in a tiny molecule invisible to the naked eye—with plenty of room to spare."

Pretty cool and important. In the coming years more and more data has to be stored and if we don't figure out another way to store it than we do now we'll end up in storage crisis and have no power or space to fit it all. So yup. lets start doing biotech asap.

FUTURE SOCIETY

This would just be so awesome. Will perhaps take a lot of time though.. But let start digging!

SINGULARITY HUBS WRAP UP OF THE WEEK

Week in Review - 4th of June

The world is bananas, even though we live in one of the best times in history and loads of great things are happening, there still is some crazy shit going on. There is always someone who just wants to mess up. Another terrorist attack happened Saturday evening in London... wtf? Just ten days has gone by since the Manchester attack (btw tonight there is the memorial concert with Bieber etc..) 7 dead and 48 wounded. I guess ISIS soon will claim the attack. Gooood, seriously. Wtf. As I write this I'm watching the memorial concert Arianna Grande put together. She is a great girl, going back to Manchester and bringing top pop artists with her, Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Pharell Williams etc. Its a beautiful concert full of love.
Not only that but this week Trump just decided to pull out of the Paris Agreement. Seriously, I have to laugh.. Out.. LOUD. At least Elon Musk made it clear that he no longer wants to be seen in the white house no more..

So what else exciting has happened?

NASA’s First Mission to Touch the Sun Launches in 2018
Parker Solar Probe will be sent into the corona of the sun, NASA hopes to get some answers on why the corona, the top layer of the sun's gaseous atmosphere (visible only during a solar eclipse), hotter than its surface?

TRANSPORT

This is so inspiring and should definitely considered asap from other world leaders too.
India will only sell electric cars by 2030!

Poor air quality kills 1.2 million people in India every year, so clearly they finally had to do something.

Latest updates from around the web !
Twin Peaks The Return starts tomorrow - Whoop Whoop. When I was in SF in 2014 I secretly got to know that they were working on it. And that's long ago. So finally it arrives!

Googles developers conference, I/O '17,  was held this week and they had some interesting news.

Ok back to Elon Musk this week as normal. To me, this year he has really established himself as a huge inspiration. When he started Neuralink, Open AI and the Boring company. He basically reaches for the stars and does everything in his power to help create a better world and save humanity from extinction. Thats his biggest mission in live. To help change the world to the better for both the planet and humans. Man, I really fond this guy.  I'm starting to get really jealous on Amber Heard, his present girlfriend.

SPACE

NASA just discovered a manmade space bubble around earth. Makes sense though!

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

This was probably the most mind blowing I read this week: Googles AI is better at making AI than their engineers. Future is here folks.

"At its I/O '17 conference this week, Google shared details of its AutoML project, an artificial intelligence that can assist in the creation of other AIs. By automating some of the complicated process, AutoML could make machine learning more accessible to non-experts."

Elon Musk Just unveiled breakthrough research
"Elon Musk co-founded artificial intelligence non-profit OpenAI just announced it has created an AI system that can learn to complete a task in reality after watching just one demonstration of that task in a simulated environment."

YES GOOGLE YES, things are haaappening for us normal peeps!

SINGULARITY HUBS PICKS OF THE WEEK

Week In Review - May 14th

Week 3 of Office X is over. 7 more to go. Damn, time flies. I've had one of the best weeks in a while. Office X pluss reconnecting with the startup community. That San Francisco feeling entered my body and stuck for a bit. It's about to slowly fade but.. It was there! Times them are a-changing here in the smallest of Oslo.

So here is the wrap of what I've got across this week :)

AUTOMATION

This is why you want a robot coworker - watch the movie below.

TRANSPORTATION

Uber is set to deploy flying taxis in Dallas-Fort Worth and Dubai by 2020 :D

The new ET3's tube transportation concept, which is called the "mag-lev limo." would be capable of traveling from New York to Beijing in 2 hours. Amaziiiiing.
“ET3: we call it a mag-lev limo, where it’s a car-sized vehicle that operates in a network of tubes much [like] cars on a freeway,” Oster told TechRepublic at the 2017 Smart Cincy Summit. “But, it would be international and global in scope. Our vision is being able to travel from, say, here in Cincinnati to the Taj Mahal in under three hours for 50 bucks,” Oster added. Essentially, it’s a network of tubes that serve as a “freeway” which can be accessed via various points along its many routes."

Meet Horizon Public Transport, another way to be transported in the future. Whoho!

SINGULARITY HUB'S PICKS OF THE WEEK

Week in Review - May 5th

This week was a great week for me. Filled with achievements and sense of mastery.
I had my first LIVE Talkshow Ever. 3 guests and it went well. I've been dreaming about it for such a long time, and NOW. Finally.. wow on my birthday 2nd of May I got that as a gift from the universe. Quite happy about that!

I also did something I haven't considered ever; having my birthday public on Facebook. Regardless of I not having it visible people started to comment on my wall and I actually felt good about it. I've always had this ambivalent feeling of my birthday.. I stopped celebrating it at the age of 11 and haven't done it ever since.. but.. at my 28th Birthday it felt different. So, the next day I went on and hit public birthday on my Facebook. So, next year I'll get some more comments I guess. Reconnecting with people I haven't hear from in a long time. Not too bad!

So, whats been up lately around the web? Sadly I haven't been reading too much this week but the few things I've been digging through I'll post here :D

Hope this sparks some inspiring thoughts and talks!

Week In Review - April 30th

I haven't had that much time to read this week due to my new (amazing!!) job. I've learned a ton but mostly from my own experiences. I held my first podcast and did some smaller interviews, and yes indeed went to Trondheim I've been researching a lot and I've actually done some sweet social media work. I shared my Trondheim interview on Facebook. And I've reached 10k on 35 hours. Not too bad! The wonders of Social Media outshine everything.

So what's happened this week out and about in the whole wide world?
Well, this week Trump celebrated his 100th day as a President. How do you think he is doing?

I hope this sparks some good reflections and conversations and I wish you a good week :)

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

A robot just taught another robot to read. Times they are a-changening.

Within 30 years, your CEO probably most likely actually will be a machine. At least according to clever Jack Ma, The Chinese billionaire and the founder and chairman of popular e-commerce service Alibaba. He has had some accurate predictions earlier and if I could give my vote in this case thats what I believe as well. I will even go further.. Believing that one day our Presidents and Prime Ministers and other leaders will actually be machines too. No doubt. They're smarter, faster, has better memory and can work 24/7. And are not even driven by their inner feelings. They just follow logic basically. Or a logic they will understand but we won't. We would just have to trust them.
“The Time Magazine cover for the best CEO of the year very likely will be a robot. It remembers better than you, it counts faster than you, and it won’t be angry with competitors.”
Perhaps this will be the new saying, "Why trust a man when you have a machine"

I'm really pro the Venus project (Watch video below) I've been it since I first heard of it. I haven't yet share what this is all about with you so in my feed this week the video popped up again so I thought I should share it. It's bruning man way of an economic system. Yep NO money. A world without money. It functions very well in Burning Man. All we need to do is alter our mindset towards how a society structure is "supposed to" be.

Week In Review - April 23nd

This week F8 2017, the Facebook Developer Conference. At the event, CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed key details about where the company is going next, specifically focusing on what Facebook is working on in relation to bots, virtual reality, augmented reality, and new communication methods (such as advances they are working on in Messenger).. I've always been wanting to go there... Perhaps in a few years?
On my side the pre-work week took place and we moved in to our office at Skøyen. It starts looking like something but we are looking for decorations, so if you have any idea or stuff you'd like to show the world - come by!

The F8 conference got kicked off by this keynote by Mark Zuckerberg. Wort watching. At least for the first 20 minutes.

If you just read one thing of this sum up read this on by Tim Urban on Brain computer interference "Neuralink and the brains magical future" . Whenever Tim Urban comes out with a new post I scream halleluja. He has some great insights on tech and future society and in his blogposts he explains complex things in an easily graspable way. Highly recommend you to check his blog out and read the parts describing the AI Revolution, Elon Musk and The Fermi Paradox. Apparently Elon likes him too.

VR/AR

Facebook launched Facebook Spaces, a social virtual reality platform. You can go, teleport and do anything anywhere with you friends! Woho. Magic is here!

Both Snapchat and Facebook did a launch this week on their new augmented reality feature. Snapchat has released it for the mainstream while Facebooks version is still in Beta trial. But Im not in doubt of which version I can't wait to be using.

A New “CRISPR Pill” Makes Bacteria Destroy Its Own DNA
Many people have been talking for ages about the anxiety of antibiotics resistance. I've had this inner feeling that it wont be a problem cause we will have so much knowledge in biotechnology that we will find a better way to solve it. And now it seems that we are almost spot on to something thats even better. Yes you hear me, it's better than antibiotics!
CRISPR, the most advanced gene editing technique of today, is used and a Food scientist is creating this probiotic cocktail that can be swallowed as liquid or as a pill.
In depth: The cocktail of bacteria will include a bacteriophage – a virus that infects bacteria – capable of carrying a customized, false, CRISPR message to C. difficile. This message would cause C. difficile to make lethal cuts to its own DNA.

Scientists Just Discovered an Alien Planet That’s The Best Candidate for Life As We Know It
"
Only a few decades ago, the thought of any alien planets existing in the reaches of space were just hypothetical  ideas. Now, we know of thousands of such planets – and today, scientists may have discovered the best candidate yet for alien life."
YES! The Fermiparadox is just why we haven't found anyone to communicate with. BUT there is this one thing far far away trying to communicate with us or something is happening that in unexplainable. You can read more about that venture here. I believe they are there we just haven't figured out a way to find them yet. An possibly they dont even look like we expect. They probably merged with machines long time ago and might just like like atoms that can turn themselves into anything whenever they want. Well, I'll stop right here with the far out thoughts of mine.

But well, we're almost there technology wise.
